Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade makes major shift from holiday tradition & fans need to adjust plans
SET your alarms, because Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is taking place at a new time.
The Thanksgiving parade this year will take place 30 minutes earlier than usual, at 8:30 am ET.
Racking in around 25 million views per year, the Macy's Parade has taken place each Thanksgiving for the past 96 years.
This year, the show starts early, and also features a performance by Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy award winner Cher.
To ring in the holidays, she will be performing a brand new holiday song for the millions of parade attendees.

In addition to the highly-anticipated performance by Cher, there is a great lineup of entertainment for the celebration.

There will be 17 other performers, including Pentatonix, Jon Batiste, Chicago, Jax, and more.
To add to the list of musical entertainment, 11 marching bands will be present at the parade, including several high school and college marching bands.
The parade will also feature 25 giant balloons, such as Spongebob and Gary, Stuart the Minion, Smokey Bear, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Bluey, and Paw Patrol.
Seven of the balloons are new, including Beagle Scout Snoopy, Blue Cat and Chugs, Kung Fu Panda's Po, Leo, Monkey D. Luffy, the Pillsbury Doughboy, and Uncle Dan.

There will also be six balloonicles, which is a play on the words "balloon" and "vehicles."
The lineup of self-propelled balloons includes Baby Dinos, Bulldog, Go Bowling, Mouse King, Nutcracker, and Tough Guy.
There will be a whopping 31 extravagant floats, with most of them being returning floats.
Some of the floats include the Big Turkey Spectacular, Deck the Halls, Macy's Singing Christmas Tree, Pinkfong Baby Shark, and the Wondership.
New floats such as Camp Snoopy, the Good Burger Mobile, the Palace of Sweets, and the Deliciously Delectable World of Wonka will make a debut at this year's parade.
Keep an eye out for the 29 clown crews that will be marching the parade, as they will be sure to make you smile.
Some of the clown crew themes include artists, city tourists, campers, Santa's toy box, and pirates.
Lastly, there will be seven talented performing groups to jazz up the parade, including tap dancers, cheerleaders, bhangra dancers, and more.
The parade will air nationwide on NBC from 9 am to 12 pm in all time zones. You can also live stream the event on Peacock.
