THE first millionaire of 2023 was named as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin' Eve just after midnight.

Gary Krigbaum from North Carolina will take home a million dollars on the first day of the year.

His daughter, Sarah, accepted the award for him on the program hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

The promotion is an annual tradition with 29 finalists.

Krigbaum is the first North Carolina resident to become Powerball’s first millionaire of the year.

Another finalist, Jared Jank, from Minnesota didn’t win the million dollars but still found something to celebrate.

Viewers also chimed in on social media, with one saying: "I wanted the guy with the mullet to win Powerball."
